The Holiday Helper series, including the Winter, Spring, Sabbath, and now the Fall Holiday Helper, has given direction for many people pursuing a Messianic lifestyle wanting to honor the Biblical holidays in their homes. What is the significance of the Biblical holidays? How are we to celebrate them? What are to we do with our family and friends who do not understand what we are doing?

The Holiday Helper series answers these questions, and many more. They are a helpful resource for you to have as you celebrate what the Lord has done for us, and we look to His Word for answers.

The Messianic Helper series edited by Margaret McKee Huey include a series of books with instructional information on how to have a Messianic home and to properly live as a Messianic Believer.

MESSIANIC TORAH HELPER

There are many aspects regarding the subject matter of “the Torah” for today’s broad Messianic movement to consider. These range from: the validity of the Torah or Law of Moses, the historicity and reliability of the Torah, the degree of applicability of the Torah to Jewish and non-Jewish people, the role of tradition in following the Torah, and changes affected to the role of the Torah in the post-resurrection era via the sacrifice of Yeshua (Jesus). Some of these aspects surrounding Messianics’ study and appreciation of the Torah are handled quite well by the current generation, and some of them are frequently avoided or handled rather poorly.

The Messianic Torah Helper is a valuable compilation of articles and analyses designed to assist you, your family, and your friends in approaching those important areas of the Torah which need to be considered. How have Jews and Christians approached the Law of Moses in their theology? What are some of the controversies surrounding the Pentateuch? Has the Law been abolished? Are Jewish and non-Jewish Believers in Israel’s Messiah both supposed to keep the same basic Law? Does Jewish tradition play any kind of role in following Moses’ Teaching? Are non-Jews who keep the Torah trying to replace the Jewish people? These questions, and many more, are some of those considered in the Messianic Torah Helper.

If you have ever inquired about a wide range of Torah-related issues, then the Messianic Torah Helper is definitely something for you. This book is an excellent follow up to the extensive study The New Testament Validates Torah by J.K. McKee.

MOEDIM: THE APPOINTED TIMES FOR MESSIANIC BELIEVERS

Today’s Messianic community widely believes and advocates that our Heavenly Father is restoring the celebration of the Biblical appointments or
moedim, chiefly found in Leviticus 23, to all of His people. Messianic Believers find great enrichment every year of going through these annual festivals, rehearsing God’s plan of salvation history. We bereave the fact that too many of our Christian brothers and sisters have not partaken of the blessings of knowing things like the Passover, Shavuot, or Sukkot, and the significant enrichment all of us can have by seeing God’s plan for history present within them.

Some say that because of Yeshua’s sacrifice at Golgotha (Calvary), the Torah or Law of Moses has been abolished, and thus the
moedim or appointed times are done away with, annulled, and abolished. Some believe that they might be important for us to understand in an historical sense for understanding the Bible, but are not to be followed as standard elements of our orthopraxy.

This publication, simply entitled Moedim: The Appointed Times for Messianic Believers, is an important synopsis of what the appointed times of Leviticus 23 actually are, and why they have not been abolished by the New Testament.

MESSIANIC KOSHER HELPER

When the subject of kosher, kashrut, or the dietary instructions of the Torah or the Law of Moses come up in various contemporary Messianic settings, there can be a tendency for some strong emotions to arise. The broad Messianic spectrum represents a diversity of views on “kosher”—ranging from the dietary laws being abolished and only to be observed as a part of Jewish culture, to people advocating a strict adherence to many Orthodox Jewish rulings and practices, to a kosher style diet where people mainly avoid pork and shellfish. At times, there has been an over-amount of attention given to the minutiae of keeping kosher, and not enough time given to some of the significant Biblical passages which either inform us about kosher or have been traditionally interpreted to say that kosher has been abolished for the post-resurrection era. And more than anything else, maintaining an appropriate, Messiah-centric attitude toward all of this, is most imperative. There have been far too many extremes represented regarding the issue of the dietary laws, at times, and not enough reasoned discussion. Too many people have issued accusations against others, and not enough have tried to inquire of both the Holy Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, what is perhaps important about this issue. Human beings have to all eat, after all!

The Messianic Kosher Helper includes a wide breadth of material, addressing a wide array of topics associated with the Torah’s dietary laws. This publication has been divided up into two main parts: The Significance of Kosher and A Theology of Eating and Kosher. You will be able to detect a progression of sorts, in our family’s own approach to the subject matter, as some things are addressed first more generally and then more specifically. In our experience, we ourselves have certainly had to move from a more elementary view of the issue of kosher, to a more developed view, and we recognize how the Messianic community needs to do the same.

It is important to remember how Leviticus 11:44 says, “
For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy” (cf. 1 Peter 1:16)—a concept which is directly connected to clean and unclean meats. But, if following this is not enjoined with a better appreciation and understanding of a steadfast mandate for all of us to have clean minds and hearts, imbued with the presence of God’s Holy Spirit, demonstrating the love of Yeshua to all—then outward holiness will not have been joined with the more critical inward holiness. If, however, we learn how to separate external things which are clean and unclean—then perhaps we can also learn, with God’s help, how to separate clean and unclean thoughts, ideas, and attitudes, being mature men and women in Him, and empowered on many different levels for service to His Kingdom!

This is a massive collection of material, well needed for every Messianic home and congregational library!

KASHRUT: KOSHER FOR MESSIANIC BELIEVERS

Today’s Messianic community widely believes and advocates that our Heavenly Father is  restoring the significance of kashrut or the kosher dietary laws, chiefly found in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14, to all of His people. Messianic Believers, in desiring to see themselves fully consecrated to the Lord, find a great deal of not only blessing but also critical focus, in how the Creator God desires His own to consecrate their eating unto Him. Far too many of not only our Christian comrades, but even Messianic Believers’ Jewish brethren, have not understood how the hallowing of something as seemingly mundane as what God’s people eat, have some important lessons and disciplines to convey.

This primer, Kashrut: Kosher for Messianic Believers, is an important synopsis of what the Bible’s dietary laws involve for today’s men and women of faith. Common Jewish traditions associated with kosher are recognized, and frequent Christian dismissals of clean and unclean are addressed. This resource should serve as an adequate introduction to the whole topic of eating Biblically for today’s Messianic people, as it is taken from the much larger TNN Press Messianic Kosher Helper. This condensed publication is ideal for a fair introduction to the whole topic of clean and unclean meats, and the kosher dietary laws, for many of the Jewish and non-Jewish Believers who compose today’s Messianic movement, and has been specifically prepared as a congregational handout for inquiring minds.

MESSIANIC FALL HOLIDAY HELPER

The Fall holiday season of Yom Teruah/Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot—also including Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah—is a very special, sacred time of year for God’s people. It is considered to be the most holy time of year in Judaism. As such, this season can teach us all important things about the great value of corporate repentance of sin, and an annual inspection of our individual spiritual maturity. We can learn lessons about the Lord’s ongoing plan of salvation history, especially the Second Coming of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) and the future establishment of His Millennial Kingdom!

The Messianic Fall Holiday Helper is a valuable compilation of resources designed to assist you, your family, and your Messianic fellowship for this season. We have included a selection of articles summarizing the role of mainline Jewish tradition, and reflective articles that focus on day-to-day observances of the Ten Days of Awe and the eight days of Tabernacles. Messages from customary books of the Tanach (Old Testament) like Deuteronomy and Ecclesiastes, which are often studied and discussed during the Fall high holidays, have been offered. A few FAQs on the Fall high holidays have also been provided. Finally, some significant liturgy derived from Conservative Jewish sources—including a template for both a Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur morning service—is available.

MESSIANIC WINTER HOLIDAY HELPER

The Winter holiday season is frequently a conflicted time of year for many people in today’s Messianic movement. On the one hand, most Messianic Believers do not celebrate the holiday of Christmas on December 25, due to some of its pre-Christian origins and questionable traditions. On the other hand, the birth of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) is a Biblical event which we all must acknowledge in some way. Furthermore, during this same Winter season, the Jewish community commemorates the Festival of Dedication or Chanukah. What is a Messianic Believer to do?

The Messianic Winter Holiday Helper is a valuable compilation of resources designed to assist you, your family, and your Messianic fellowship for this season. We have included a selection of articles summarizing the holiday of Christmas, and how Messianic Believers need to have a proper attitude toward our Christian brothers and sisters. We have included a variety of teachings on Chanukah, common traditions associated with it, and how this can be a blessed time of spiritually rededicating ourselves to God and to each other. Information on the time period of the Maccabees in Second Century B.C.E. Judea, the wars that they fought, and the long term impact they left on subsequent generations, has been provided. A few FAQs on the Winter holidays are offered, as are some delicious recipes, and liturgy you can recite for your Chanukah celebration.

Do not let the Winter holiday season be a difficult time for you any more. The Messianic Winter Holiday Helper can assist you greatly in making this a very special time for you and your family!

MESSIANIC SPRING HOLIDAY HELPER

The Spring holiday season is a very busy time for those in today’s Messianic movement, beginning with Purim, continuing to the week of Passover and Unleavened Bread, and then culminating with Shavuot or Pentecost. This broad season is one of the most demanding for Messianic Believers, not only as it concerns the many things to celebrate and reflect upon, but also as we strive to exhibit a positive testimony to both the Jewish and Christian communities: to Jewish people remembering the Passover and deliverance of Ancient Israel from Egypt, and to Christians memorializing the death and resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).

The Messianic Spring Holiday Helper is a valuable compilation of resources designed to assist you, your family, and your Messianic fellowship for this season. We have included a wide selection of articles discussing the different salvation historical themes from the Spring season. The significance of Purim is addressed. The role that the Passover and the Exodus play, and how they relate to our redemption in the Messiah, is described. We go into great detail discussing the Last Supper, and the death and resurrection of the Messiah. We consider what it means to observe Shavuot as a time for both the giving of the Torah (Law) and the Holy Spirit. We offer a fair-minded and loving way to communicate to those who observe an Easter holiday often separated from anything in the Tanach or Old Testament. A selection of FAQs on the Spring holidays has been provided, as are some delicious recipes, and an educational Passover haggadah you can use for your home or congregation.

Let the Messianic Spring Holiday Helper be a resource of great blessing to you during this sacred season!

Margaret McKee Huey is one of the founders of Outreach Israel Ministries (OIM) and serves on its Board as the Business Manager. She is also one of the copy editors for TNN Press, a subsidiary of OIM.

Margaret is a multi-talented woman who exemplifies what a Proverbs 31 woman should be. Besides handling the business responsibilities of OIM and editing assignments with TNN Press, she operates an internationally known needlework sampler design business that she founded in 1985. Yet, she still finds time to successfully invest in raising her three children.

In addition to her business acumen, Margaret is spiritually gifted as an evangelist. She was actively involved in evangelism through the Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis Program, and the Lay Witness Mission while in the United Methodist Church. When asked what Biblical character she most identifies with, she demurely responds, “why John the Baptist, of course.” The passion of her heart is communicating the “Gospel According to the Torah.” In an inspiring and convicting way, she not only helps you understand the sacrifice of Yeshua and your salvation, but also helps you understand the mercy of the Holy One as a diligent Believer follows His Torah.

Margaret comes from a long line of Methodist preachers and teachers. Although raised in a Christian home, she did not come to true saving faith until the age of 30. She was immediately drawn into an appreciation of Israel, the Jewish people, understanding that Yeshua was the Messiah of Israel and even celebrating the Passover with her first husband, Kim McKee, at their Methodist church beginning in 1986.

Lamentably, in 1992 Margaret was widowed at the age of 39 with the responsibility for three young children. This unexpected tragedy did not detour her from her relationship with God, but instead prompted her into even greater dependency upon Him as her provider and comforter. As a result of her life experiences, she is gifted in grief counseling and deliverance issues.

Margaret is the editor for the upcoming Messianic cookbook Kosher Your Plate, as well as editor for the Messianic Helper Series. Some of the titles for this series include: Messianic Winter Holiday Helper, Messianic Spring Holiday Helper, Messianic Fall Holiday Helper, and the Messianic Sabbath Helper.

Margaret is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. She is the wife of William Mark Huey and the mother of John McKee, Jane McKee, and Maggie McKee Huey and now resides in Dallas, Texas. She is a member of Eitz Chaim Messianic Jewish Synagogue.
